Overview

The QL202B is the newest, low power, high video quality H.264 Main Profile audio and video compression/de-compression SoC, ideally suited for networked video streaming applications.  

  • The QL202B’s advanced video compression algorithms result in products supporting the best balance of superior video quality, low power consumption required in mobile devices for enhanced battery life, and affordability for the mass market consumer.
  • The QL202B, with a number of dedicated hardware blocks, has rich video features allowing support for multiple standard video formats, enhanced video effects, and customizable options. The on-chip audio codec is based on a dedicated ARC DSP to support multiple standard audio formats.
  • The QL202B provides multiple external interfaces to support key applications, minimizing system level cost and components, and maximizing design flexibility.

The QL202B SoC leverages the QL200 family architecture, with the additional of the ARM9 microprocessor in master mode, allowing the QL202B to operate as a single chip solution without the need for an external microprocessor, reducing overall system cost.

Using the QL202B development kit, customers can quickly get to production, whether they implement the QL202B with a standard or customized feature set targeted for their applications. The QL202B supports industry standard Operating Systems such as Linux, facilitating the porting of common user applications and software stacks.

With its integrated 10/100 Ethernet MAC, the QL202B in stand-alone (or master) mode offers a highly optimized, single chip IP Cast or IP video streaming solution for such applications as:

  • IP surveillance cameras for home security or remote monitoring
  • Place-shifting set-top boxes for streaming video to a different location
