Essential Responsibilities:

Requirements:

Development

  • Simulate proposed algorithm using various test video sequences, evaluate the results, and implement/verify the improved algorithm.
  • Discuss and simplify algorithm for optimized implementation, perform quality simulation, verify algorithm simplification.
  • Collaborate and share knowledge with fellow Engineers.
  • Participate in the development and mentoring of less senior Engineers.
  • Exercise sound judgment within defined procedures to select appropriate methods, techniques and solutions.

Quality Assurance

  • Develop and maintain written test plans for thorough testing of algorithm.

Documentation

  • Analyze and document algorithm requirements.
  • Document and transfer proposed algorithm to verify their implementability under Qpixel’s platform.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • BSEE or MSEE in Computer Science/Engineering or related field with a minimum of 3-5 yrs of encoder algorithm development as well as video quality evaluation.
  • Hands on experience, especially for consumer/professional products utilizing MPEG1/2/4, H.263/4, for low-power hardware codec.
  • Experienced with SW/HW partition optimization for cost/performance/power consumption tradeoff.
  • Proven experiences in video quality assurance with track record of improving encoder algorithm to address customers’ feedback while delivering target video quality in time critical environments.
  • The ability to work independently or in a group on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Sound judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Strong software development experience using a well-defined software methodology and/or software development experience in a regulated industry.
  • Preferred areas of experience: Interlace mode encoding, Motion estimation, B frame implementation, mode decision, rate control (CBR/VBR), filtering, video quality/artifacts evaluation and its tools.
  • Possess a strong ability to prioritize, work independently on multiple activities, and be goal-oriented. Strong verbal/written communication skills are a must, as is the ability to communicate effectively with people with non-technical backgrounds.
